My creative interests include drawing, painting,  silver jewellery making, classical guitar (Grade 8) and the clarinet.

Creativity means ‘thinking outside the box’. It’s not just about producing works of art. Creative thinking is needed in healthcare for developing new and innovative ways of providing healthcare, on an individual patient and also on an organisational level,  particularly when working with more challenging patients – e.g. homeless, learning disabilities, mental health issues, drug and alcohol issues, prisoners. It also comes into health promotion and training colleagues and other professionals.

I feel that I use my creativity every day at work, especially as a podiatrist which is very ‘hands on’ and requires fine hand/eye coordination.   It gives me great satisfaction to use my creative skills to help people / change things within my organisation and at the same time to satisfy my interest in medicine, science and facts!
